The National Geographic Society is offering $1,000 – $8,000 stipends to writers, photographers, videographers, audio journalists, cartographers, filmmakers, and data visualization experts who want to cover pandemic issues in their own communities.
The goals of this “COVID-19 Emergency Fund” are the following:
- to disseminate critical information
- illuminate stories that bring us hope
- to find and share solutions to our problems
In particular, National Geographic is seeking reporting that prioritizes and serves high-risk and hard-hit communities around the world, including:
- indigenous communities
- immigrant or refugee communities
- elderly populations
- children
- and underserved urban or rural populations
